I found out about a book a couple of weeks ago titled “The Modern Survival Manual: Surviving The Economic Collapse” By Fernando Ferfal Aguirre. I checked it out of my local library a few days ago and once I started reading it I couldn’t put it down.

Preppers prepare for all kinds of contingencies based on what we think will happen. “Ferfal” gives advice based on personal experience from surviving the 2001 economic collapse of Argentina. The advice given in this book is based on what did happened during an economic collapse not what might happen.

Many preppers look at the economic condition of the US as the primary reason for prepping. After all, we can’t print money and spend what we don’t have forever. Something is going to break sooner or later and many believe it is sooner.

There are two acronyms common in prepping, SHTF (Shit Hits The Fan) and TEOTWAWKI (The End of The World as We Know It.) Ferfal makes a distinction between the two. SHTF is an event that occurs but life goes on albeit with changes. TEOTWAWKI connotates an event that causes drastic change. Change to the point that our new life has very little semblance of our previous life.

SHTF happens all the time. TEOTWAWKI has not happened and there are only a few possible but unprobable scenarios that could make it happen. Many preppers preparing for an economic collapse are preparing like it will be a TEOTWAWKI event. Ferfal in his book shows that economic collapse is a SHTF event and life goes on, a more austere life, but life goes on.

Ferfal shows that treating an economic collapse as a TEOTWAWKI can actually put you and your family at a disadvantage and possibly put you in danger.

The book covers what works and what doesn’t work. What you need and what you won’t need. The advice is not only basic and common sense but is is also timely as we watch Greece starting to have the same SHTF events that happened in Argentina.

I recommend “The Modern Survival Manual: Surviving The Economic Collapse” By Fernando Ferfal Aguirre whole-heartedly. I have ordered a copy from Amazon for my survival library.

Check it out at your local library and then if you want to buy a copy here is a link.

Ferfal also has a blog.  Here is a link.
